Gynecomastia Surgery

Gynecomastia is an increase in the amount of the breast gland tissue in boys or men. This tissue is not a fat and can not disappear by slimming. It can be seen in one or both sides of breast. This kind of problem can appear not only because of the weight, but also because of the hormonal disbalance. Now it is possible to fix it with our specialists of SEM team.

Can be different reasons of gynecomastia such as: hormone disbalance, excessive we-ight, increased estrogen. Gynecomastia surgery can be performed at the end of adoles-cence, after 17 years old. However,  it can cause a lot of psychological problems, it better to wait till the end of 18. If your general health status will be good  you can be a good candidate for it.

What are the methods of Gynecomastia?

Gynecomastia can occurs in different stages in each patient. There are some differences from very mild cases to very intense sagging.

- 1. Stage of gynecomastia:  the size of the breast is limited, there is no looseness or sag-ging of the skin. It will be enough to do liposuction and remove the fat tissue.
- 2. Stage of gynecomastia: the second stage is dominated by a large appearance, but there is no sagging of the skin.
- 3. Stage of gynecomastia: in the third stage, there is a laxity in the skin that requires sur-gical operation.
- 4. Stage of gynecomastia: this is the most advanced case, the appearance of the female breast dominates. The sagging is avdanced.

How is gynecomastia surgery performed?

Gynecomastia surgery is performed under the general anesthesia. It can take up to 2-3 hours. In some different cases time can vary.

In the first stage of gynecomastia –liposuction is performed. The surgeon make very thin incision under the patient's armpit. In the second stage of gynecomastia, liposuction can be also performed, but it may be necessary to touch the skin. The patients with the young age who use the chest corset or have the dangling skin (because of the sport) will reco-ver.

In the third and fourth stages of gynecomastia, liposuction and mammary gland removal performed together. If the patient is young and does not have the large size, the chances to fix the skin sagging are higher. It's hard to do it in advanced age.

What you should know about gynecomastia surgery?

Gynecomastia surgery is performed under the general anesthesia and the patient can go home next day.

It is important to wear a chest corset after the surgery and this corset should be worn for at least three weeks. After the third week, it will be enough to be worn only during the day, especially during heavy activities. This period will take about 6 weeks.

At first day after surgery may occur: Edema, tenderness, mild pain and bruising. These symptoms will decrease after the first 2-3 days. Sensitivity may take a little bit longer. However, it will not affect the quality of life.
